I brought my camera along to Chicago with me, as it would have been silly not to. And yet I haven't taken a single photo so far.
Part of it is that I have been lugging all my stuff with me, both for work today and for the Lifeline event tonight. It makes stopping and pulling out the camera into a bit of a production. Also, since I have all my stuff with me, I want to avoid making myself an obvious target: "Hey! Expensive and portable stuff here!"
I have been keeping my photographer's eyes open, though. Looking for shots worth taking. I've learned over the years that just because something it interesting/pretty, it doesn't mean it will work in a photo or that I really *want* a photo of it. For example: I don't do sunsets. Sure, they are gorgeous, but they are so much better in person and the world has millions of sunset photos. Do we really need another? But if I spot something that looks like I could get an interesting and original shot, without putting myself at risk, I'm going to pull out the camera and give it a go.
In other news, I think it is time to migrate to a new coffee shop.
